You’ll join Dr. Greg Cynaumon, a 10-year police veteran turned doctor of psychology, as he teaches the Senior Copilot course to a group of seniors. Then, you’ll go out on the road for some actual footage of this scientific program in action. Just a few of the scientific techniques you’ll learn include:

a) The See It and Say It driving technique

This is the scientific cornerstone of the system whereby we teach senior drivers a brilliant technique that has been taught in law enforcement since the 1940s and is currently taught to all new drivers in Canada. This technique creates awareness and attention like nothing you have ever experienced.

b) Scanning

Scanning is a technique that teaches senior drivers to frequently (every 20 to 40 seconds) make visual scans (called laps) around their entire driving area. Scanning creates powers of observation that can identify potential hazards and prevent them before then become accidents.

c) Identifying the most frequent causes of accidents among seniors

Simple logic dictates that, by identifying the most frequent hazardous situations (intersections, left turns, entering a highway, backing, etc.), empowers senior drivers them to avoid and/or prevent them. This section not only teaches drivers how to identify the risks, but how to reduce the risks altogether.

There are many, many more important techniques taught in the system.

60-Min Audio Copilot

The Audio Copilot is the complementary (in car) component to the See It and Say It technique learned in the video. Played inside the car while driving, the Audio Copilot provides audio safety prompts (approx. every 60 seconds) in order to heighten and maintain a driver’s maximum attention, focus and observation skills while driving. These scientifically created “safety prompts” are played over a bed of classical music which was selected due to it’s proven abilities to reduce distraction and to keep the driver’s attention focused on SAFETY.

Pre-Drive Safety Checklist

Just as airline pilots have a series of safety checks to complete prior to each flight, so too should all drivers. This component requests senior drivers to run through an assortment of safety inspections and activities scientifically designed to prepare them mentally and physically to drive. It also provides spaces where the driver will log three destinations as well as the safest route. To say the least... seniors loved their safety checklists!
