Q: What is the science behind Senior Copilot?
A: Senior Copilot was tested three ways. First, at St. Jude Hospital’s driving simulator program where we carefully researched the neuro-feedback (brain wave activity) of seniors as they drove. The results of the neuro-feedback concluded that seniors, using Senior Copilot, were more focused and aware. These are two critical components to safe driving. Next, we hired retired police officers and asked them to conduct rigorous evaluations of senior drivers both BEFORE and AFTER being trained in our system. The results were staggering and the conclusion of the officers was that senior drivers - using Senior Copilot - were safer, more alert drivers. And lastly, we field tested the program among seniors. The overwhelming conclusion was that seniors loved driving with this system and it made them feel safer and more in control of their vehicle.
Q: Is Senior Copilot easy enough for everyone?
A: The system is as simple as watching a quick training video and listening to the Audio Copilot while driving. Our testing revealed that any driver possessing the mental and physical abilities routinely required by state and local regulations to be a qualified driver possessing a valid license, easily understood and applied the Senior Copilot system.
Q: What if I have concerns about whether I should be driving any longer?
A: If you have concerns about your driving, you should immediately seek an evaluation by your family physician, a DMV employee, or driving school professional. Please note that, while we strongly believe in our system, we are far more concerned for your safety. Therefore, never take chances as no system (Senior Copilot included) can take an impaired driver and turn him or her into a qualified driver.
Q: What are the main things you teach in the Senior Copilot System?
A: We teach (a) the “See it and Say it” driving technique. This technique has been taught to law enforcement officers since the early 1940s and is standard operating procedure for all new drivers in Canada. It teaches drivers how to be far more observant and how to anticipate hazards before they develop by narrating what is going on around them. Second, we provide an AUDIO COPILOT which helps to eliminate distractions while continually prompting the driver to be highly aware of his or her surroundings. Third, we teach visual SCANNING techniques which shows senior drivers how to avoid tunnel vision and to see the big picture while driving. Next, we provide a PRE-DRIVE CHECKLIST which is employed at the start of every drive. This component sets a tremendous tone for safety throughout the commute.
Q: Is this purchase confidential? I don’t want DMV or anyone knowing I need help?
A: Your purchase is completely confidential and Senior Copilot is not affiliated with any governmental agencies.
Q: Will Senior Copilot help everyone?
A: Whereas we’d love to answer a resounding “YES”, the simple fact is that we will all hit an age or a degree of limitation where we should not be driving. If you have any questions, you should check with your family physician, a DMV employee, or driving school professional.
Q: What do I get with my system?
A: You will receive everything you need. The training DVD/or VHS tape, ONE Audio Copilot and a supply of Pre Drive Safety Checklists.
Q: Is it a good idea to get the extra Audio Copilot CD/cassettes now or wait?
A: Yes. Keep in mind that the Audio Copilot that came with your system is roughly 1 hour long and most of us will tire of the same music after some time. There is also a significant discount offered on the additional Audio Copilots when you purchase at one time.
Q: How long will it take until I see improvement in my driving?
A: We saw significant improvement in our test subjects almost immediately. When you stop and consider that the program teaches FOCUS and ANTICIPATION SKILLS while driving, it’s easy to understand why results can be seen so quickly.
Q: Are you guaranteeing seniors wont have accidents or tickets once they use this system?
A: Absolutely NOT! We can’t guarantee that each of us wont have an accident or get a ticket today. The guarantee (please read it) simply reflects the confidence that we have in the product. So much so, that we are willing to pay for a traffic ticket should you receive one while using our system. That’s confidence.
Q: Will this system help me to get my license renewed?
A: We believe it will. DMV tests for safety and we preach safety so it stands to reason that this program can do nothing but increase the odds of your successfully passing your driving skills tests.
Q: Should I tell the DMV that I’m using the Senior Copilot System when I retest?
A: It’s up to you. Many DMV instructors should be aware of the See it - Say it methods we teach. They may know it by the term “narrative driving” because it is a wonderful system that has been taught to law enforcement officers since the 1940’s.
Q: Do insurance carriers offer a “safe driver discount” for using Senior Copilot?
A: Many will, so we recommend that you contact your insurance carrier and ask them to consider giving you a safe-driver discount for using our system.
Q: Driving is a sensitive issue. How should I bring up using this program?
A: You’re right... this is sensitive to some, but during the course of our research, we encountered far too many adult children and grandchildren of senior drivers who had lost their parent or grandparent to a driving accident. To a person - each regretted not having enough courage to suggest the senior driver might need some help with his or her driving. All also commented that, had Senior Copilot been available at the time, it would have made it much easier to simply buy the program and give it to the senior driver as a gift. As a concluding thought, you might consider buying the program as a gift and giving it to a senior for the purpose of potentially getting lower insurance rates by using the system. Perhaps viewing the program as an opportunity to lower one’s insurance cost is easier accepted than having one’s driving skills questioned. |
